ARID Student Interdisciplinary Research Grants- Now Open

Undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students from all departments at UNM are invited to apply for a $5,000 research grant to undertake interdisciplinary research related to resilience in New Mexico. Students are encouraged to develop the research project in partnership with an external UNM entity, such as a community group, Pueblo or Tribe, business, management agency, or non-profit, to address a real-world problem facing that group. Students hoping to connect with external groups are encouraged to RSVP and attend the ARID Managers Workshop. STEM Pathways and Research Alliances: New Mexico AMP Spring 2025 Applications Open- Now Open

 

NM AMP is a statewide partnership of universities with the goal to increase the number of students who complete high quality STEM baccalaureate degrees and to prepare undergraduate students to enter the STEM workforce and/or pursue graduate education. NM AMP supports students through a broad range of activities, including the Undergraduate Research Scholars (URS) program, the STEM PREP program, the Summer Community College Opportunity for Research Experience (SCCORE), the New Mexico AMP Transfer Stipend, an annual Student Research Conference, and the Community College Professional Development Workshop series offered in conjunction with the student conference.

Additionally, the NM AMP Student Research Conference happens every fall and helps brings together students and faculty from across the state as well as students and teachers from the New Mexico Math, Engineering, Science Achievement, Inc. program (NM MESA) and Upward Bound. The conference provides the opportunity for students to present research, gain presentation experience, network with other students and with faculty, and participate in workshops and panels. EGFP- Resilience Innovation Fellows: funding opportunity for graduate students- Now open


Resilience Innovation Fellows is a cohort program for GRFP Honorable Mention students at the University of New Mexico. Students from eight STEM departments will participate in professional development and training opportunities connected to the ARID Institute (Accelerating Resilience Innovations in Drylands) at UNM as a supplement to their disciplinary research. Cohort programming will introduce fellows to local communities, expand their access to research resources, and provide professional development opportunities linked to resilience research, careers, and employment.

Funding amount

Selected fellows will receive a stipend of $37,000/year for three years, with an educational allowance (for tuition/fees/expenses) of $16,000/year. Fellows may use this funding over a five-year span; NSF does not require that the funded years be consecutive.
